Gerry was born in Langley in 1960. He has a Geography degree from University College London.

Gerry started his career as Distribution Manager for the National Freight Group. He joined Royal Mail in 1987 on a fast track management programme. During his career in Royal Mail, Gerry has had a variety of operational roles including International Operations Director and Area Operations Director for London.

His current role is Field Operations Director, South for Royal Mail. He is accountable for operational performance across a balanced scorecard which covers Wales, through the South West and South East, crossing London and over to Anglia. The key priorities are safety – accident reduction, quality – meeting quality of service targets and operational productivity. This is against a backdrop of transformational change and modernisation.

Through a team of 6 Regional Operations Directors, Gerry is accountable for over 70,000 employees working in 700 sorting offices, with an annual operating budget of £2 billion.
