Nigel is the driving force behind the European and Asian side of global legal services organisation, DLA Piper. Across Europe and Asia the business has over 5,230 staff. Globally, DLA Piper has more than 8,500 staff and over 3,750 lawyers working in 65 offices across 27 countries.
Nigel's commitment, experience and passion have helped the organisation to develop a reputation for providing high-quality legal advice across several jurisdictions and consistently improving its year-on-year financial performance. In the past six years the European and Asian side of the business has delivered against major goals set and, together with the US practice, is currently working to achieve DLA Piper's three year vision to be a "leading global business law firm".
Nigel's confident aspirations for DLA Piper are matched by his leadership qualities and his energetic commitment to provide clients with a full range of global legal services for those who require them, as well as quality local services for businesses which do not have a large international remit.
Nigel is Chairman of the Managing Partners Forum; Chairman of the Legal Sector Alliance which emerged from the May Day Business Summit on Climate Change in 2007; a member of Business in the Community's Environment Leadership team; and a member of the steering committee of The Prince of Wales's Rainforest Initiative. In December 2008 Nigel was knighted for his services to the legal profession.
