John Pettigrew was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for National Grid’s UK Gas Distribution and Metering business on the 1 July 2010.

 

National Grid is an international energy delivery business with principal activities in the regulated electricity and natural gas industries.  In the UK National Grid owns the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales and operates the system across Great Britain.  It also owns and operates the high pressure gas transmission system in Britain and its distribution business delivers gas to 11 million homes and businesses.  In the U.S., National Grid delivers electricity and natural gas to customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island.

 

Prior to this appointment John was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for National Grid’s Electricity Distribution and Generation business in the US.  As Chief Operating Officer, John was responsible for overseeing the efficient running of $11.7 billion of infrastructure assets serving over 4.6 million customers across the Northeast U.S. 

 

Prior to this appointment, John was the Director of Asset Management with National Grid’s UK Transmission Business.  In this capacity he was responsible for UK operations, asset management, engineering, and strategy. 

 

During his time at National Grid, John has played a key role in several major transformations focused on improving operational performance.

 

A 19 year veteran of National Grid, John has held various other positions covering Regulation, Engineering, Operations, Commercial, and Energy Trading.
