The highest accolade from the Prince's Responsible Business Network, awarded to the business that best demonstrates that it is returning long-term value creation to all by integrating purpose beyond profit and holding responsible behavior at its heart.

Please note: this Award category is open only to members of Business in the Community.

The deadline for all Award submissions has been extended to 5pm GMT on Friday 17 February 2017.

Today's leading businesses are actively integrating responsible business into their decision making and core business strategy, and are promoting that thinking across the whole of their business and through their value chain. These businesses recognise the need for visible leadership and advocacy, nurturing the future leaders within their business and engaging actively with wider society.

Successful companies in this category will be using their scale and core business strengths within their major markets to address some of today's most pressing challenges. Each, in their own way, will leverage their leadership position, including their membership of BITC, to influence others to address key issues ranging from youth unemployment and skills shortages to resource depletion and the need to create responsible businesses that can adapt to huge changes in population levels and patterns of consumption.

The business chosen as BITC’s Responsible Business of the Year 2017 will work with Business in the Community to help grow the movement throughout the following year.

Previous winners include Scottish Power, BT, The Co-operative Group, Carillion, BHP Billiton, M&S, United Utilities, Unilever, Wates, Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid, Fujitsu, and our current Responsible Business of the Year 2016, Veolia.

  • This category is open exclusively to members of Business in the Community.

  • The application should focus around the business’ major markets, and for this reason an entry cannot be made by a strategic business unit.

  • Businesses of any size can enter and will have an equal chance of winning as entries will be assessed against the scoring guide and not against each other.

We strongly advise that companies intending to enter this category first contact their Corporate Adviser or the Category expert, Maria-Jose Subiela on or 020 7566 8674 to discuss it.
