The Awards for Excellence are peer assessed, independently by individuals who are experts in corporate responsibility, HR, supply chain, environmental impact, education, talent, regeneration and community investment.
Without our assessors we could not run the Awards for Excellence.
What is the assessors role?
All our assessors are trained and supported by Business in the Community category experts. They then are tasked with reading and scoring the entries in the category they are assessing before deciding which companies and programmes can evidence their impact and deserve a Big Tick.
Who can be an assessor?
Our assessors come from a mixture of roles, responsibilities and organisations but tend to have an expertise or interest in CSR. The main requirement is not their role but that they have an active knowledge of CR policies and practices within their industry.
Our assessors must have at least several years’ practical experience of running programmes and have an interest and knowledge of the area covered by the category they are going to assess.
Many assessors have participated in the Awards for Excellence and have submitted entries to our Awards prior to being an assessor – although this is not required to be an assessor.
What's in it for you?
This is a unique opportunity to learn best CSR practice and to recognise the initiatives and hard work of businesses who are leading the way in responsible business practice.
Previous assessors have fed back to us that acting as an assessor for the Awards for Excellence is the equivalent of attending a formal training session in terms of knowledge and experience gained from the experience.
The experience is both interesting and rewarding with assessors coming back on more than one occasion.
