Gala dinner highlights
Whether you were there or would like to see what took place at the Awards for Excellence gala dinner, you can view the highlights of our biggest event of the year online. Over 1500 people from many of the UKs top companies were gathered at the Royal Albert Hall on 7 July to find out who was awarded an Example of Excellence for integrating responsible business practice into their mainstream operations.
The theme of this year's awards ceremony was Talent and the role that business has to play in recognising and unlocking it. Speaking at the ceremony were:
- James Naughtie, a BBC journalist and radio news presenter.
- Mat Fraser, a rock musician, actor and performance artist who was born with phocomelia of both arms, due to his mother being prescribed thalidomide during her pregnancy. His groundbreaking performances on TV and live on stage aim to challenge people's perceptions of disability.
- Sir Michael Parkinson, CBE, broadcaster and journalist.
- Sir Tim Berners-Lee, a computer scientist credited with inventing the World Wide Web.
Also performing were Carnival Messiah, who brought a Caribbean carnival flavour to Handel’s eighteenth century Oratorio.
