This award aims to recognise the most responsible and sustainable business as demonstrated by the degree to which the business has integrated their thinking on the most critical sustainability issues into the core of their business and have adapted their businesses approach as a result.
Why this award is so important?
Globally and locally we face a world that is changing, increasingly rapidly. There are many critical environmental and social issues that will impact over the coming 20 years that will require a radical shift in our relationship to the economy and society as well as the way we treat the environment.
Tomorrow’s successful businesses will be those who explore and respond positively today to the rapid economic, societal and environmental changes we can already see happening. Through this award we want to recognise those companies that are moving beyond short term gain and are orienting themselves to build in resilience, maximise opportunities and ensure the long-term viability of their business.
The challenges we face are many and varied and have been outlined in a publication produced by our Visioning the Future – Transforming Business team, The forces for Change: drivers and trends. We expect entrants to this award to be able to reflect how these forces for change are impacting on their business now and into the future. We also expect entrants to be able to articulate the business case for taking action and demonstrate the action they have already taken to re-orientate their business towards a more sustainable and responsible future.
