The Woodland Trust - a supporter of the Awards for Excellence
The Woodland Trust is once again delighted to sponsor the BITC Awards.
The charity's long term goal is to double native woodland cover in the UK - a vision the charity will achieve by working in partnership with businesses.
One way the Trust works with companies is through 'locking up' their residual carbon emissions through tree planting. This in turn helps businesses meet their carbon offset targets, stand out from the competition and improve the environment in which their colleagues and customers live.

Businesses are vital in helping the Woodland Trust to save, protect, care for and create important woodland here in the UK and there are a number of ways that companies can work in partnership with us. Here are some of our exciting projects your company could get involved in:
- Create a wood at Heartwood Forest – Your business can create a 50 acre wood at the Woodland Trust’s largest site – Heartwood Forest, in Hertfordshire, which, when planted will be the largest new native forest in England. The story of Heartwood is perfect for public relations opportunities and customer engagement. Media attention for the project has already led to nationwide TV, radio and press coverage, which has surpassed more than 40 million opportunities for people to see, watch and here about. - Woodland Carbon – Trees are the lungs of our planet and absorb and store carbon dioxide which is the main cause of global warming. Woodland Carbon is a carbon capture and storage product which allows companies to reduce their impact on the environment by helping to fund the planting of trees – the bonus is that they will also help to enhance communities at the same time. - VisitWoods – this exciting new project is due to launch in Autumn 2010 and in partnership with 20 other organisations the Woodland Trust will make it easy for people, throughout the UK, to find out information about their local woods and to give them reasons and confidence to get out there! As part of the project there will be a new website which will include a directory of every public, accessible woodland compiled through user generated information.
- Support tree planting – as one of the least wooded countries in Europe, the Trust’s vision is to double native UK woodland – an enormous undertaking. However, even if the charity continues to plant more new woods, it would never be able to realise this vision, so we are looking to encourage, support and work with other landowners and aim to plant 500,000 trees a year on other people’s land - could your company help in this vital work?
All the above projects offer your company the chance to engage and involve your stakeholders.
