Business4Burnely - Burnley

Andy White, Managing Director of Aircelle. This visit will demonstrate the impact that businesses are having through effective, long-term collaboration and the importance of brokerage in identifying, managing and delivering this impact.

Situated in the heart of rural Lancashire, Burnley is a town facing high levels of deprivation, unemployment and low academic attainment. In 2008 the Prince’s Charities formed a unique collaboration with partner organisations to ensure a long-lasting impact on the socio-economic renewal of the town.

As part of this collaboration, BITC is brokering strategic business support for key issues which matter most to Burnley’s prosperity, including community engagement, enterprise and raising aspirations of young people.

This visit will demonstrate the impact that businesses are having through effective, long-term collaboration and the importance of brokerage in identifying, managing and delivering this impact. Delegates will visit a community project supported by Business4Burnley, a collaboration of businesses committed to providing support to local community groups.

They will also meet local SMEs who have been assisted through Burnley Enterprise Development Project, gaining business skills and advice from top business leaders through a series of masterclasses. Aircelle will also showcase the initiatives they have developed to inspire young people through innovative work placement programmes, raising aspirations and increasing employability.
