Store Managers and Branch Managers local action - Maidstone
Alex Gourlay, Chief Executive of the Health & Beauty Division, Alliance Boots. This visit will look at how Store Managers and Branch Managers can have a positive impact on the prosperity and health of the local high street through local action.
Our High Streets are part of everyone’s neighbourhood and they are central to the prosperity and well-being of communities. It is a simple fact that shops and businesses suffer if they are situated in High Streets which are run down and poorly managed. No business wants to trade in this kind of environment so this visit will look at how Store Managers and Branch Managers can have a positive impact on the prosperity and health of the local high street through local action.
Maidstone has a good, active town centre partnership with engaged Store and Branch Managers representing a number of well known brands. As well as being involved in the town centre partnership they also have links with local schools and the local prison. On the visit we will speak to some Store Managers and their community partners to identify the variety of activities a Store/Branch Manager can get involved in; the business benefits they realise from their involvement; what elements can be replicated elsewhere; and how to overcome the barriers which prevent more Store and Branch Managers from getting involved.
