Developed in the North West in 2008, Business Class is BITC’s flagship strategic education programme which aims to build effective, sustainable partnerships between schools and business. What differentiates Business Class is a needs-driven and collaborative approach. Working in local clusters, businesses like Wates develop three year partnerships with secondary schools, developing bespoke long-term action plans rooted in the needs of the schools and provide skills, time and resources. This visit will help delegates to understand the power of collaborative engagement to build effective, high impact partnerships with schools and ultimately to raise performance.

Independent evaluation by the CASS Business School demonstrates that Business Class is improving educational attainment, employability and school governance and its cluster approach is enabling effective sharing of best practice to generate greater impact. Delegates will visit a school and business in Manchester and hear about how business clusters are transforming schools at a time of profound change in our educational system.
