Asda OnRoute - Sheffield
Led by Paul Kelly, Chair of the ASDA Foundation. This visit will look at how collaboration between business, volunteers and the voluntary sector can improve access to youth services for young people in deprived communities.
Research shows that young people who are not in education, employment or training for longer than six months are more likely to fall into long-term joblessness, ill-health and criminality. This visit will look at how collaboration between business, and the voluntary sector can improve access to youth services for young people in deprived communities.
OnRoute is a national network of mobile youth facilities developed and run locally, with access to centralised support and advice. It is supported by a £1m fund established by ASDA, to provide finance and in-kind support to local organisations. Delegates will see how the experience and learnings of the first mobile youth facility (the Space Bus in Burnley), are being transferred to other projects such as this one in Sheffield and how a range of different organisations are working together to improve the life chances of thousands of young people.
