Midcounties Co-operative - Telford
This visit will help delegates to understand the power of collaborative engagement to build effective, high impact partnerships with schools.
This visit will look at The Midcounties Co-operative’s approach to education, winners of our National Example of Excellence for Education 2010. In 2008, The Midcounties Co-operative partnered with Sutherland Business & Enterprise College in Telford, helping them to become one of the most improved schools nationally and the most improved school in Telford and Wrekin.
The Midcounties Community Team lead the partnership and act as brokers between the school and the wider business, managing programmes including workplace visits, employability projects and enterprise events. Their employees then provide business mentoring for students, workplace visits and raise awareness of ethical issues such as Fairtrade.
Delegates will visit The Sutherland Business & Enterprise College in Telford and learn, first hand, about how Midcounties Co-operative supports education by sharing values and ethos, and developing people through projects that benefit the school and improve performance; an approach that any business may adopt to support its communities.
