Celebrating the CommunityMark
Last night, the impressive group of CommunityMark companies gathered in central London to celebrate their collective achievement and to welcome five new companies into the fold.
Stephen HowardChief Executive, Business in the CommunityWe are delighted to celebrate the achievements of this group of five new CommunityMark companies and welcome them into the impressive group with 29 others, all of whom have demonstrated innovation and leadership in community investment”
Anglo American, Brentford Football Club, Heineken UK, Lend Lease and LSI Architects proudly collected their CommunityMark trophies from Business in the Community’s Chief Executive, Stephen Howard.
The celebration took place at Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, itself a pillar of the community. Guests were entertained by world record holding freestyle footballers from charity Streets United and challenged by Professor Sir Michael Marmot, Director of the International Institute for Society and Health, on the responsibility that business has in influencing the social determinants of health.
Lively discussions were facilitated by Amanda Jordan, Co Chair, Corporate Citizenship Company. Companies shared their perspectives on the role that business has to play in raising aspirations and providing suitable role models for young people as well as challenging each other to work collaboratively across businesses and with voluntary and public sector organisations to address social needs most pressing to local communities.
To mark the occasion a new CommunityMark film was created by Leo Burnett, and a distinctive piece of artwork depicting the CommunityMark streetscape was created by Urban Species.
