1. Why do I need to register, and what will happen to the information that is supplied?
By registering on the system you are able to return to your previous answers to check your progress over time. It also helps us to know who is using the tool. This information will be used to develop the Check Up and resources pages and to inform our employee volunteering campaign. Your details and quiz answers will not be disclosed to any other organisation without your formal consent (in writing or by email).
2. How can I find out where I fit in relation to other companies?
The Check Up is not a benchmarking tool and will not publicly rank the answers given by companies. The primary aim is to help you develop your programme. The resource materials will provide a point of comparison on specific aspects of your programme. We are also keen to develop networking opportunities linked to the Employee Volunteering Check Up that give you the chance to share experiences with practitioners from other organisations.
3. Are there any events or activities for practitioners using the tool?
We are keen to develop networking opportunities linked to the Employee Volunteering Check Up that give you the chance to share experiences with practitioners from other organisations, and should the opportunity arise we will be communicating this via email to all companies using the tool.
4. Is this a benchmark?
No. We have designed the Check Up as a less intensive process that provides an “intelligent steer” rather than a precise ranking. This follows feedback from practitioners and reflects the diverse range of employee volunteering activity.
5. I want to publicly say I am using the Check Up – do you have a logo I can use?
Yes - Click here to go to the landing page where you can download our logo.
6. I am a BITC Cares member – how does this differ to the conversations I am having with my Cares contact?
The framework that underpins the Employee Volunteering Check Up also underpins the advice given by our Cares teams. They apply their local knowledge and understanding of what volunteering opportunities are available in your town or city to help you develop your programme.
7. Is the Employee Volunteering Check Up exclusive to BITC member companies?
No, the tool is hosted on our website in the public domain, so any organisation can access it.
8. How do I get my company showcased on the tool?
The resources pages feature the examples of good practice, mainly from companies recognised as CommunityMark achievers. For more information about achieving the CommunityMark click here.
