Identifying your need

We know that it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint exactly what type of professional support your project needs so we have developed some information below to help identify how ProHelp might be able to help.

Below are some descriptions of the types of support each of the professions can provide and some the sorts of issues you may be facing as a community organisation.  You may also find it helpful to look at the ProHelp Case Studies that provide some great examples of some recent activities.

What type of support can the sectors provide?

  • Accountants:  can help with business plans, financial reporting, pricing strategies, financial policies and procedures, advice on tax and VAT recovery.
  • Architects, engineers and surveyors:  can help with agency and lease negotiations, building surveying, design, detailed plans and drawings, planning and technical approvals, masterplanning, project management and valuations.
  • Solicitors: can help with company/charity registration, contracts, employment policies and contracts, and property issues e.g. leases.
  • Marketing & public relations: can help with brand strategy, graphic design, developing a communications plan, events management, marketing and PR strategy.

What issues do you need help with?

  • we need bigger premises:  perhaps your organisation has grown and you need to make better use of space.  ProHelp can offer support from surveyors, architects and consultants to help you make best use of your space
  • we need help with our lease and/or landlord: if you need help to renogotiate your lease or have some issues to address with a landlord, we help match you with a surveyor or lawyer to deal with negotiations on your behalf
  • we have a great service but aren't reaching enough potential users: you may need a marketing plan.  Marketing professionals can help you focus on your product and identify your target audience and work within the confines of your budget to develop a communications plan
  • we have got people issues: employment legislation can be very complicated.  Our HR and employment professionals can help advise
  • we intend to expand our operations: you may need a business plan to help clarify the steps you need to take towards expansion or support submitting a funding bid.  ProHelp members are able to work with you to help with business planning.

Our needs aren't covered by professional firms

Business in the Community has other initiatives that may be able to help by organising for employees to carry out physical improvements to your building or by advertising other volunteering opportunities you may have through Cares, our national employee volunteering programme.
