BITC has developed advisory offerings for professionals to use the Competency Map. The services are targeted at CR practitioners, Managers of CR teams and HR Managers.

 

Services for CR Practitioners

CR Professional Development Workshop

Purpose

A workshop to help you get more value out of the competency map by demonstrating how to use it to construct your own personal development plan.

This workshop is delivered with the support of a professional career coach specialising in CR and sustainability.

Choice of full day or 1/2 day

Key Outputs

This workshop will help you familiarise yourself with the competency map and use it to step through some of the key activities you are involved in.  It will help you identify the desired business outcomes that you are working towards, the challenges you face and some of the key knowledge and behaviours that may be useful in overcoming these challenges. In the workshop you will construct a document that can form the basis of a personal development plan.

Service for Managers of CR teams

Name

CR Team Health Check

Purpose

To provide a 3rd party assessment to determine whether your team has the appropriate competencies, behaviours and is involved in the appropriate balance of activities to deliver on your strategic objectives.

Key Outputs

A management dashboard highlighting the strengths and vulnerabilities of the team, which is consolidated from assessments of individuals’ strengths and development needs.

Recommendations on team structure and individuals personal development.

Each team member gets a personal development plan aligned to the team’s overall strategic objectives.  For details of the personal development plan see 'Personal Development Planning Tool'

Delivery Process

An initial meeting to review your needs and scope out the work, which is free to BITC members:
1) Agree the scope and priorities of the work required
2) Agree a schedule and dates for the work
3) Agree costs

The support work would then be tailored to meet your requirements, but might include:
• Agree detailed plan and timings
• A kick off meeting with you to understand your strategy and objectives
• A kick off meeting with your team to explain the process
• Meet other key stakeholders who impact or are impacted by your teams decisions
• Gap analysis between the results of each team members individual analysis and the managers analysis – reconcile differences and provide recommendations.
• Advise on team structure

Service for HR Managers

Name

CR Competencies for Business Leaders

Purpose

The CR practitioner competency map identifies key behaviours and competencies for CR practitioners.  Many organisations are keen to embed these competencies, qualities and behaviours  throughout their business leaders and management teams to re-enforce the integration of corporate responsibility throughout the organisation.  This service supports you in embedding these key CR competencies and behaviours in your organisations’ business leaders.

Key Outputs

A set of recommended behaviours and associated behavioural statements that can be assessed against, to add to your existing competency framework.

A recommended training and development curriculum can be developed for business leaders or for developing talent.

For ease of implementation the recommendations will be presented back in the same format as your existing competency framework.

Delivery Process

1) Agree the scope and priorities of the work required
2) Agree a schedule and dates for the work
3) Agree costs

The support work would then be tailored to meet your requirements, but might include:
• Understand your relevant business priorities and desired outcomes of the exercise
• Review your existing competency framework and other documentation
• Interview key staff to understand current awareness of CR and development needs
• Conduct workshop to agree priority actions
• Use the competency map to analyse the gaps and development needs
• Map the CR Practitioner behaviours onto your framework
• Prioritise which behaviours should be included
• Compile suggested behavioural statements in the same format as your existing framework
• Develop proposed training and development programme
• Finalise implementation plan

A final meeting to present findings and recommendations
