Programmes


Business in the Community in the East Midlands runs programmes to help Businesses and the Community; we work in three specific area:

Education/Community & Employability and Enterprise Support 

These programmes allow companies to take action on issues which are specific to their company, sector or location.

For Community groups/organisations or individuals it means they can seek help and advice from our numerous volunteers and mentors.

We operate across the East Midlands not all our programmes operate in every county.  See list below to find out if we operate near you.

  • Nottinghamshire Cares

    Cares partnerships enable companies to work collaboratively to tackle disadvantage in their local community.  Find out more or contact Dave Richards on 0115 924 7407.

  • Derbyshire New Enterprise Allowance Programme

    The East Midlands helps to regenerate neighbourhoods and in Derbyshire is working on the New Enterprise Allowance Programme. This programme mentors jobseekers who have been unemployed for at least six months and helps them to start their own micro business.  We work in partnership on this programme with Jobcentreplus, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber and Erewash Partnership For more information contact Nicola Burton on 0115 924 7419.

     

  • Cares for Kids Breakfast Clubs

    Cares for Kids is a charity set up in Nottingham and is a partnership between businesses, schools and volunteers who aim to provide all primary school children in Nottingham with a breakfast.  Find out more or contact Helen Moore on 0115 924 7411.

  • Lincolnshire Primary School Breakfast Club

    The Businesses for Breakfast charity was  created to offer every primary and junior school in Lincoln funding to help them set-up or sustain an out of school hours Breakfast Club.

  • ProHelp

  • Seeing is Believing

    HRH The Prince's Seeing is Believing programme gives business leaders an insight into the issues facing disadvantaged communities and encourages them to consider how business can respond. Find out more by contacting Beverley Toone on 0115 924 7415.

  • Ready for Work in Nottinghamshire

  • Environment

    BITC's environment campaign's goal is for every business to recognise and improve their overall impact on the environment and for their operations and behaviours to be sustainable.

    The campaign runs The Prince's Mayday Network supporting businesses on the journey to environmental sustainability and ways2work inspiring better ways of working and travelling.

  • Northamptonshire Cares

    Northamptonshire Cares,  is working with companies in Northamptonshire to tackle disadvantage in their local community through a range of employee volunteering opportunities.  For more information contact Hayley Coe  on 07766 161419

  • Care Leavers

    Nottingham is participating in this pilot scheme, called RISE, to help identify opportunities for young care leavers to enhance their skills, recognise their talents and ultimately improve their employability.

  • Business Champions

    Business Champions programme brokers volunteers who share their business knowledge and expertise in a variety of ways including assisting with strategic planning, mentoring, coaching, acting as a critical friend or by becoming board members or trustees.  For more information click on the link above.

  • Awards for Excellence 2012

    This years East Midlands Awards for Excellence is being held at the Roundhouse in Derby on 20 June 2012  and is being sponsored by Derby College.  To book your place go to East Midlands Awards 2012

  • Business Class

    Business Class aims to create tomorrow's competitive workforce by improving the skills and knowledge of young people.  We create a 3 year partnership by matching a business and a secondary school following a needs analysis with the school.  The businesses offer support at a strattegic level as well as within educations and are always developing new programe accordingly.

    Business in the Community works in Partnership with Leicestershire Cares.  Leicestershire cares connects employees with communities in Leicester and Leicestershire through a range of opportunities designed to make employee volunteering easy, rewarding and valuable for all those involved.
