Business Action on Employability & Skills

Business Action on Employability & Skills supports people to gain and sustain employment and actively campaigns for the removal of barriers to work. We believe that work is the best route out of homelessness and poverty and that businesses often overlook the talents of people with a difficult background.

Ready to Go

A two day pre-employment training session for clients. Ready to Go clients explore personal issues such as self-esteem, motivational skills, hopes and aspirations as well as practical training in CV preparation and interview techniques.

Ready for Work

Ready for Work is our two-week work placement programme. Placements are brokered between hostels and employers to place clients recently engaged in Ready to Go, and prepared to enter the workplace with renewed confidence.

Action day

When the placement has been completed successfully, we run an action day - a signposting exercise to define the next steps for moving into work.

Post-placement support

Keeping clients motivated after they have completed their work placement is crucial. Our companies provide employee volunteers to act as job coaches for our clients for at least six months. We also provide an opportunity for further training and networking through Client Support Networks.

 Partnership Working

BITC works with a number of local partners to get the best employment and training opportunities for clients we work for. A good example is the link with The Prince's Trust and their 'Get into Hospital Services' programme. Dowload a leaflet on this programme from the link on the right.
