East of England Awards For Excellence 2009
The Awards for Excellence are the UK’s most influential awards recognising leadership and innovation in responsible business best practice. On 9 June, 300 guests from East of England companies attended the East of England Awards Gala Dinner at Audley End House and celebrated the success of a number of local companies. The evening was kindly sponsored by BAA London Stansted.

The evening commenced with a champagne and beer reception, sponsored by Adnams, in the Parterre Garden. This was followed by a sumptuous, locally-sourced dinner with the vegetables served supplied by Produce World from their 'From my Farm' range. Guests were also treated to a demonstration by Olympic Bronze Medalist – Louis Smith, a local gymnast who lives in Eye, Peterborough and trains with Huntingdon Gymnastics Club.
Guest speaker for the evening was Paul Pugh, Regional Director, East of England Government Office with the keynote speech being given by Stephen Howard, Chief Executive of Business in the Community.
In total, there were six ‘Big Tick’ Award winners and four ‘Big Tick’ Re-accreditations.

Mike Brophy, Regional Director of Business in the Community congratulated the businesses that took part in the Awards for Excellence 2009 and praised the success of those companies who had achieved the Big Tick standard.
Business in the Community president HRH The Prince of Wales sent his own personal message and nominated Stephen Bourne, Chief Executive of Cambridge University Press as his 2009 Ambassador for the East of England for his outstanding work and in particular his involvement with the Employers Leadership Group in the region.
Also recognised for her outstanding work in the community and in collaboration with business to benefit society was Dawn Jackson, Project Director, Futures Project who was presented with this year’s Marks & Spencer Sieff Award.
