Education Programmes

Business in the Community aims to build effective, sustainable partnerships between schools and businesses - with the ultimate goal of helping young people realise their potential and building talent. Our members can help young people by supporting schools and communities in the areas of enterprise education, employability and leadership and management skills.

School governors: A Call to Action

Two major studies of school governors were published on 14 October 2008, to coincide with Business in the Community's Employee Governors' Conference. See Member Resources, and for more information visit our school governors page.

    Lets Get Cooking

Businesses are part of the solution in fighting health inequalities. They are helping young people, their families, employees and the wider community to understand the importance of a good diet and how to cook healthy meals.

Companies signed up to the Let's Get Cooking programme can help address the key issues of health, obesity, nutrition, education, skills and employability.

    Work Experience

On the 15 September 2009, our Chairman, Sir Stuart Rose, launched a national call to action to businesses to improve the first experience of work for over 500,000 young people every year. Now more than ever, offering an inspiring, interesting and insightful first experience of the world of work is essential for young people and their future employment opportunities.

  • Enterprise Week at the Learning Skills Council

    Business Class

There are a whole range of partnership opportunities for businesses wanting to support education. Whatever approach is taken, the most successful programmes are conceived, planned and delivered in partnership with the participating schools

Vocational qualifications, apprenticeships, work related learning, enterprise education and work experience are all elements of mainstream education.  Schools want and need business involvement.
