What will I get out of attending?

McLaughlin & Harvey has striven to set an example for the construction industry to follow through best practice in sustainable environmental management. It has developed a Sustainable Business Strategy (SBS) to make it a leading sustainable contractor in Ireland, by embedding sustainability into all aspects of the business.

Through its SBS the company is specifically addressing climate change issues by Company Carbon Cuts and

Client/Site Carbon Cuts. It undertook a major Green Supply Chain Project and working with 10 key suppliers, it identified £280k of cost savings whilst reducing 63 tonnes of CO2 per year.

firmus developed a workplace strategy and lifestyle programme – “Get Fit, Live Well, Be Happy” – to frame and package its health efforts. The company is already viewed as a leader in this field and shares its best practice across Northern Ireland. Through the initiative absence reduced to 2.5 days per employee, saving £35k

Given the huge focus on cutting costs within the Healthcare sector, Boots identified an opportunity to work in partnership across the public/private/voluntary sectors, using a community development approach to assist clients to work with community pharmacists, and take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

Through the Building the Community Pharmacy Partnership (BCPP) project, ‘Pharmacy Thursday’ was devised. Its success encouraged Boots to get involved in more BCPP projects which now accounts for 25% of all NI projects.
