The Prince's National Seeing is Believing visit, led by Peter Clarke, Group Chief Executive, Man Group plc
This visit forms part of The Prince's Seeing is Believing which provides senior business people with an insight into the issues facing some of the most disadvantaged communities and encourages them to consider how business can respond.
This visit forms part of the National programme and is open to Chief Executives, Managing Directors and board-level employees of national companies.
His Royal Highness has asked that this particular visit be focused on literacy. Tying in with 2008 being the National Year of Reading, this particular visit is focused on Literacy. The 2006 Leitch Review of Skills states that 1 in 6 young people in the UK are leaving school lacking basic numeracy and literacy skills and the National Literacy Trust claims that 16% of adults in England are classified as ‘functionally illiterate’, having literacy levels at or below those expected of an 11 year old. Delegates will be provided with the opportunity to visit a selection of organisations, exploring best practice of how to improve literacy within the local community and within the workplace, whilst also improving access to local employment and training for all ages.
