Greener Airport Buses Arrive At Bristol International

Five new buses at the cutting edge of environmental standards were unveiled at Bristol International on 3 October 2007.  The Mercedes-Benz Citaros will be used to transport passengers between the airport’s car parks and the terminal building, aimed at meeting current legislation on exhaust emissions and also to comply with the ‘Euro 5’ limits coming into force in 2010.

The airport is also very aware of its environmental responsibilities, and that is why we opted for vehicles which meet Euro 5 emissions limits, rather than simply complying with the current standard.

The vehicles, two of which are 18m long ‘bendy’ buses, have more space for passengers, their luggage, and any wheelchairs on board, as well as low-level design making getting on and off with heavy suitcases that much easier.  They also offer increased capacity, providing an improved service to arriving and departing passengers.

Paul Rankin, Service Delivery Manager at Bristol International Airport, said:  “Our car park services operate around the clock, so we need vehicles which are durable and reliable.  The airport is also very aware of its environmental responsibilities, and that is why we opted for vehicles which meet Euro 5 emissions limits, rather than simply complying with the current standard.”
