Employee Volunteering
Did you know that...
- More than 27% of all children live in workless households in inner London (The Poverty Site)
- 33% of unemployed people have been unemployed for more than one year; 16% for more than two years (Office for National Statistics)
- Only 34% of London's inhabitants are classified to the highest level of literacy, compared to 44% in the UK (Department for Business, Innovation & Skills)
- 17.9% of 16-19 year olds are NEET - Not in Employment, Education or Training (Department for Business, Innovation & Skills)
- Of the 50 most deprived councils in the UK, 11 are in London boroughs (Communities & Local Government Indices of Deprivation 2010)
You can help make a difference through employee volunteering.
I've always worked on computers so i take it for granted. I feel great that I've managed to help [the community organisation] get online which will hopefully make a positive difference to their lives.
Last year, almost 11,000 persons in schools and community groups benefited from the employee volunteering programme. 88% of them were in the 20% most deprived areas of the UK.
Last year, 158 companies took part in 390 team challenges.
How can you help?
Below are some of the ways you can get involved with employee volunteering in London
Team Challenges
Businesses provide teams of volunteers to support local community organisations and schools with projects such as painting a classroom. Teams can also be used to support educational/regeneration activities such as CV surgeries, enterprise days or reading workshops.
Businesses can support on a one off team challenge, or become a Cares Partner which allows ongoing participation in a number of volunteering activities each year.

Employability, Enterprise and Curriculum Support
We provide opportunities for businesses to support schools through volunteering which is aimed at both primary and secondary school level (11-18). These typically involve a team of volunteers supporting a workshop which focuses on employability, enterprise or a specific curriculum area.
