Give & Gain Day London 2012
Give & Gain Day 2012 is the UK’s only mass day of action dedicated to getting thousands of employee volunteers out into their local communities. Last year in London saw more participants signed up then ever before with 2,400 volunteers giving up a day of their time to help out at schools and community organisations across the city. London's volunteers were in good company, joining an international army of 27,500 volunteers who were out making a positive difference in their local communities.
Simon Lucas, Managing Director, SocietyWe passionately believe that businesses should play a positive role in the world around them. Taking part in an event like Give & Gain Day is a great opportunity for us to become more engaged with our local community. From previous experience, these events are also fantastic teambuilding experiences for our colleagues.
Give & Gain Day 2012 is nationally sponsored by Lloyd's Banking Group and Eversheds and is in association with BT. It will take place on Friday 18th May and we are encouraging 35,000 employees in 20 countries to take part - making it bigger than ever before! In London, we are will be running many exciting projects in areas of greatest need across the city, and given that 2012 is the year of the Olympic and Paralympic Games there will be a particular focus on sport.
Highlights include:
- BITC-SportInspired Community Games which will see 100 business volunteers and 200 school children at 10 venues across London, taking part in a multi-sport festival. The aim of this festival is to increase young people's participation in sport.
- We will be working with Chelsea Football Club to put on a football tournament that will see vulnerable teaming up with business volunteers in a fun, exciting environment to learn about the importance of teamwork and communication.
