Citi extends its Women’s Network to Belfast
Citi
Belfast has launced its Citi Women Network in Belfast.
Leading global financial services company, Citi, has approximately 200 million customer accounts. It operates in more than 140 countries and provides consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products. These services include consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services, and wealth management.
Citi recognised the need to improve the number of women at senior management levels, enabling senior management to better reflect Citi’s clients, stakeholders and the communities.
Citi’s employee network program provides members with an opportunity to share common experiences and build awareness of diverse cultures and communities. The program supports the company goal of becoming an employer of choice. Employee networks are employee-initiated and led, organised according to affinity and open to all employees. These networks focus on cross-business networking.
Citi Women Network is a companywide effort designed to attract and develop talented women. The program fosters the ongoing development of women leaders by helping participants identify mentors and career opportunities across its businesses. Two senior executives, supported by an advisory team and a global network of women’s organisations lead the effort.
Speaking
at the event, Baroness Blood spoke about leaving school at 14 with no
qualifications, how she educated herself and eventually became a peer in the
House of Lords with three honorary degrees. She spoke about the role of
Challenge, Change, Compromise and Commitment in her life, and how this is
relevant to women in the workplace. She encouraged all to have the
confidence to believe in themselves.
