The Leadership Team is a group of leading businesses that support BITC and help set the strategic direction of work. The Marketplace area encourages businesses in the UK to integrate responsible business behaviour into their commercial operations, with a particular emphasis on new product and service development, supply chains and marketing.

Stefan takes over the role of Chair from Todd Stitzer, former CEO of Cadbury. He is joined by senior business leaders from Unilever, KPMG, RKCR/Y&R, Speedy Hire, Kraft, Jaguar Land Rover, Waitrose, TCS, Brakes and the Marketing Society.

Commenting on the appointment, Stefan Orlowski said, “Heineken has been a member of Business in the Community for a number of years, and so I am honoured to be personally taking a more active role in joining the Marketplace Leadership team. As business leaders, we have a duty to demonstrate and drive responsible business behaviour. Not only can we make clear to others that doing business responsibly can be value enhancing, but we can also stretch the boundaries beyond what has already been done.”

Jo Daniels, Marketplace Director at Business in the Community is equally delighted, “We are so pleased to welcome Stefan to the Marketplace Leadership Team. The knowledge and experience he brings is invaluable and will no doubt help take the movement forward. Heineken are a great example of responsible leadership in practice.”

Stefan has been UK Managing Director of Heineken since July 2009. He is a qualified barrister and solicitor and practiced law in his native Australia where he saw ‘real opportunity’ in the beer industry. Having experience as a successful beer business MD, he joined Heineken where he moved through a variety of roles in sales and marketing, to Chief Operating Officer of Eastern Europe and subsequently Group Commercial Director for Heineken International based in the Netherlands. Stefan is married with two children and lives in London.
