New Qualification fills the GAP

Business in the Community's Graduate Acceleration Programme (GAP) has recently enhanced the programme's offering by providing two new certificates for participating graduates.

As part of the GAP's training,  two EDI Certificates are now available - one in Team Leading Principles (L2), and another in Management Principles (L3) with modules in:

  • Communicating information and knowledge in the workplace
  • Team leading responsibilities
  • Managing yourself and providing direction to the team
  • Managing self-development
  • Responsibilities as a manager
  • Objective setting and communicating to support teams

The course is divided into four workshops held at Queen's University Belfast and delivered by People First. The workshops cover the following areas:

1.    Leadership and communication

2.    Personal Development/team working

3.    Planning and organisation

4.    Employability - including a motivational speaker (middle – to senior management) who will cover skills employers look for in a graduate applicant and interview technique.  A careers advisor will offer one-one guidance on CV and application writing.

Alongside the work placement and workshops the graduate will be required to complete a Learning Reflection Journal.  The journal is completed after each session and discussed and updated in conjunction with a workplace mentor.  Examinations are held on the day of the workshops.

To-date three cohorts have now successfully completed the new GAP training provision with a 93% success rate.
