Business in the Community convenes a network of some of the most influential leaders from UK & global companies.  Over 290 senior business leaders currently sit on leadership teams providing strategic direction for the charity’s campaigns and regional programmes.

The appointment of Rob Devey in London builds on Prudential UK & Europe’s long history of investing in corporate responsibility.  Its main focuses in this area are on financial education, making a difference to retirement, and employee volunteering.  In 2011, two in five (40%) of Prudential UK’s employees did volunteering work, clocking up 1,128 days of work time invested in local communities.

Rob, who before joining Prudential in 2009 held a number of senior leadership roles across insurance and retail banking at Lloyds Banking Group, has been a long term champion of employee volunteering and the impact it can have on those communities in the greatest need.  In June 2011, Rob led one of The Prince’s Seeing is Believing Visits at BITC, a national programme providing social insights for business leaders.  This visit was created to demonstrate how businesses can develop meaningful sustainable relationships with communities through employee volunteering.

Commenting on his Business in the Community appointment Rob said: “There are a number of ways businesses can engage in their local communities in London.  I hope that through working with Business in the Community and the leadership team, I can help to inspire action in companies to support the areas of greatest need in the city.  I am very much looking forward to working with the team.”

Paul Buchanan, London Regional Director, Business in the Community said: “I am delighted that Rob will be taking the role of Chair and look forward to working with him to address the many issues in London that require business support.  Rob is a passionate advocate of social investment and will be a fantastic asset to the team.”
