City & Guilds: Working to Benefit London's Youth
London Youth is a network of 400 youth organisations, serving 75,000 young people across the City. It supports its members through programmes focused on sport, leadership and volunteering, advocating on behalf of young people and youth workers and enabling member organisations to increase their effectiveness by helping them achieve the London Youth Quality Mark.

The Quality Mark is accredited by City & Guilds and is the only quality assurance scheme for youth clubs that has such status. It ensures that all organisations provide high standards and services to meet the needs of young people. Chris Jones, CEO and Director-General, City & Guilds said: “At City & Guilds, we’re dedicated to developing the skills of people and organisations for their personal and economic growth. For this reason, we are very excited about this new partnership created with London Youth, who we have supported to develop their Quality Mark Standards Programme.”
Successes of the programme so far are as follows:
• 56 clubs have been awarded the Quality Mark.
• Participating clubs have seen a significant improvement in child protection and health and safety.
• Participating clubs have a better understanding about how they can involve young people in the running of the club.
• Parents are reassured that youth clubs that have achieved the Quality Mark are safe places for their children to attend.
