North East Cares companies egg-ceed egg-spectations in Good Egg Easter collection!

This year North East Cares supporters collected 1,212 eggs, 5 Toblerone bars and 10 chocolate lollies for the ‘Good Egg’ campaign!

'We were delighted with the number of eggs we collected and I'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to everyone at Ward Hadaway who helped us. We chose 3 quite different charities - Byker Bridge Housing - who do so much for the homeless; Age Concern - because we didn't want to forget our old people in the North East over the holiday period; and Children North East who are a fantastic charity that do so much for local children. All 3 charities were delighted with our donations and we were delighted to be able to help each of them'

Norma TullockFacilities Manager, Ward Hadaway

The ‘Good Egg’ is a simple but meaningful campaign encouraging work colleagues to get together and collect Easter eggs, which are then distributed to the homeless, older people and young children in some of our most deprived communities.

Well done to our companies who collected:

  • Gentoo Collected 374 eggs for Holmewood, Ashkirke, STEPS, Childrens Services and Hope 4 Kidz
  • Ward Hadaway Collected 254 eggs for Byker Bridge Housing, Age Concern at Mea House, Children North East
  • Durham Identity and Passport Service 182 eggs, 5 Toblerone bars and 10 chocolate lollies were donated to the Rainbow Trust.
  • Eversheds 142 eggs collected for Children North East
  • Fabrick 110 eggs collected for homeless children’s project (managed by Tees Valley Housing) and Butterwick Hospice
  • Marks and Spencer Metro Centre collected 104 eggs for children in short term foster care, children with learning disabilities, and children’s homes.

Linda Carr from the Rainbow Trust collected the donations from The Identity and Passport Office and said “I am overwhelmed at the generosity of the staff at IPS Durham.

I will start to distribute the eggs tomorrow to families throughout the area with children who have a terminal or life threatening illness. I will also visit and distribute the eggs to the children currently at our respite house, Rainbow Fernstone, in Hexham.

Many thanks to you all - donations like this make all the difference to so many people!
