The group offers a range of hotel accommodation catering to economy, mid-range and luxury standard customers. Whilst hotels account for 68% of group turnover, Accor Services - a provider of innovative services to meet the growing demand for public and private sector productivity solutions - has over 700,000 clients worldwide and 180,000 suppliers.
Responsible business
- For local communities: With over 4,000 hotels around the world, ties are being developed with corresponding local communities.
- For employees: Diversity Charter signed in France in 2004. Initiatives to diversify hiring, upgrade skills and promote job mobility were pursued.
- For customers: By 2005, 547 hotels had achieved ISO 9001 certification, equivalent to 25% of the hotel base in France and in Europe overall.
- For supplies: In 2004 the Sustainable Development Purchasing charter was tested with 433 suppliers in France. 1,500 hotels now support fair trade initiatives.
- For the environment: In 2004, the Environmental Charter was extended to 12 countries in Africa. In addition, 26 properties were awarded ISO 14001 certification. An environmental management and reporting system was implemented and a film to raise environmental awareness was produced.
- For shareholders: Accor’s growth is financed by institutional investors. Executive and management functions are carried out in line with the principles of good corporate governance. In 2004, Accor was included in the following independent ethical ratings and sustainability indices: Advanced Sustainable Performance Indices, FTSE4Good, DJSI World & DJSI Stoxx and the Ethibel Sustainability Index.
In 2004, Accor was again included in the three major socially responsible investment indexes: DJSI World & Stoxx, FTSE4Good and ASPI Eurozone. It was also listed for the first time in the ESI index.
