Airtricity
Airtricity is a world leading renewable energy company, developing and operating wind farms in Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales and the United States. As an integrated utility, the company is both a generator and supplier of green electricity and currently supplies green electricity to approximately 45,000 commercial customers in Ireland. The company was awarded the “Best company to work for” in the 100-250 employees category by the Irish Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment in March. The Best Companies study sets out to identify and recognise the finest employers – and therefore the most satisfied workforces – in Ireland and throughout the European Union.
Airtricity is extremely committed to the environment and since 2003 the company has saved the release of 2,074,084 Tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. However, their commitment to corporate responsibility spans much further than environmental issues. Through the Cares @ Christmas campaign, for example, Airtricity collected hampers for Simon Community, Age Concern and NSPCC.
Airtricity is also concerned by mentoring children and launched in 2005 its Schools Programme, the purpose of which is to educate primary school children on important environmental issues such as Climate Change and Global Warming. The programme was developed in consultation with both teachers and pupils. Through this programme Airtricity employees visit primary schools and give a presentation on the causes and effects of global warming and the benefits of using renewable energy.
