Responsible Business
As a transport provider, Arriva plays a vital role in the social and economic lives of the communities it serves, and takes its responsibilities seriously.
The company strives to build positive relationships with all of its stakeholders, whether customers, employees, investors, suppliers or communities.
In 2004, a board level Corporate Responsibility Working Group was established, with representatives from each of the Arriva businesses. The Working Group meets regularly to review best practice, report on new initiatives and work on corporate responsibility benchmarking. Arriva is working closely with Business in the Community to embed best practice throughout the business and to report this to stakeholders in a meaningful way. The Working Group reports directly to the Board on a regular basis.
Arriva has a number of published policies, which set out its approach to the wider community. Arriva's top priority is the safety of its customers and employees. To encourage the sustainable development of public transport, the company works in partnership with local authorities, which is a powerful tool in helping to minimise the impact on the environment. They are actively engaged with Skills for Life programmes running throughout their organisation.
