Student-centred and employer-led, the success of Knowsley Community College comes from quality teaching combined with practical courses relevant to the real world.  The College maintains the successful range of vocational programmes, which it built its name on, but has branched out  further to include adult education, higher education and a  sixth form college. In 2004, Ofsted praised the college for  "being responsive to the needs of the community," and awarded the college with a Grade 1 (Outstanding) in Leadership & Management.

Knowsley Community College is firmly committed to the community and places huge emphasis on joint working with key partners who include LSC, KMBC, Objective 1 Partnership, Knowsley Schools, training providers, employers and trade unions.

The Governing Body remains convinced that partnership working and listening to its local community and student body is the key to our continuing success as a college and this is reflected in its mission statement “Working in partnership to improve learning, skills and employability in the local community.”

The college has developed solid ties within the larger Knowsley community, having expanded to three campuses, three high street learning shops and offering courses in over 200 community outreach centres.

“Knowsley Community College has been showing the way to many colleges up and down the country about what it really means to serve a community.” Cherie Blair wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair.

“The College is an excellent role model for others in education as it focuses on developing individuals’ potential, raising aspirations and providing a successful learning experience leading to achievement and employment.
Charles Clarke, Secretary of State for Education and Skills. Speaking when he opened the 14-16 Vocational Skills Collegiate on the Kirkby campus in 2004.
