Three local organisations have joined forces to help businesses share best practice and experience in doing better by doing good: focusing on the apprenticeship levy in this session.
The Future Proof campaign helps businesses break down the barriers in their recruitment processes and create quality accessible jobs for all young people. Our survey of 4,000 young people identified that one in three found the process of applying for jobs difficult. A poor recruitment process can also damage your reputation; one in five said a bad process had put them off the company.
Official figures estimate there will be 700,000 fewer 16 - 49 year olds in the UK in the next ten years, and 12.5 million vacancies are expected to be created by 2022 due to retirement or people leaving the labour market. Against this backdrop, the government has introduced the Apprenticeship Levy, a 0.5% levy on wage bills to fund the creation of 3 million more apprenticeships.
This workshop will help businesses maximise the opportunities arising from the apprenticeship levy, and review their own internal processes to make job criteria more youth friendly, looking at the skills and attitudes they need, rather than focusing so heavily on previous experience.
All the events are free, but guests are asked to register.
