Smart Growth: Towards a resilient, net zero carbon economy

The Smart Growth summit will explore the challenges and pull together thinking on how business can lead the way towards a prosperous, resilient, net zero carbon economy.

In 2015 the Paris Agreement at COP21 united the world’s nations in a single agreement on tackling climate change.  But just 12 over months later, we have entered a new ‘post truth’ era, where science and experts are losing credibility and people in the UK and the USA have signalled a desire for strong leadership that puts national interests first. With these ripples spreading around the world, how can we transition to a resilient, net zero carbon economy in the timescales to limit temperature increases to ‘safe’ levels?  How can we accelerate progress to maximise the opportunities and minimise the risks?  And how can business develop new ways to reduce costs, generate revenue through innovation and build resilience into their value chains through bold leadership that cuts across boundaries?

Many companies don’t think of climate change as an economic and financial issue much less as central to their long term growth and sustainability. However, working towards a net zero carbon, resilient economy can provide many opportunities. It can supercharge smart growth, deliver new jobs, create wealth, build a stronger and more resilient society and better enable businesses to withstand future disruptions and shocks.

The Smart Growth summit will explore the challenges ahead and pull together thinking on how business can lead the way towards a prosperous, resilient, net zero carbon economy. Delegates will:

  • Hear from leaders who are pushing the boundaries with 100% renewables, science based targets, going circular and achieving triple zero

  • Understand the challenge ahead and the opportunities for those companies who act now

  • Hear directly from experts and share learning with your peers in our themed table discussions designed to help you develop your own action plan

  • Meet and collaborate with others in your sector and beyond to build your network and accelerate change together
