The company regained the Merrill Lynch Raising Achievement in Young People Award. This award specifically recognises companies that help to inspire young people to achieve their potential and raise levels of attainment. This includes programmes both in and out of school focusing on education, sports, enterprise and preparation for work, for young people up to the age of 19.

A delighted Simon Proffitt, the Charnwood Site Manager, said: “To regain this award is a great achievement and shows AstraZeneca’s continued commitment to investing in the future of young people.  It recognises the superb job done by staff volunteers running events that benefit the students, the schools and ultimately the local community.”

The site in Bakewell Road first gained a ‘Big Tick’ Award in 2006. The 2007 award was presented at Business in the Community's East Midlands annual Gala Dinner event at Kelham Hall, Newak, Nottinghamshire.
