Cares at Christmas with National Grid, Wokingham
National Grid, Wokingham made a difference for the local elderly community during Christmas 2007.
Paul Auckland, Energy Requirements Manager, National GridWe are really pleased by the participation of the staff at work and we were pleasantly surprised by the high response we received. Everyone was very pleased when they talked to the City Councillor about where the parcels were going to go and the positive feeling about the impact of this initiative was evident on everyone’s faces
National Grid Wokingham took upon them a different type of challenge at the end of 2007. Motivated by their community involvement leadership, they have decided to present the elderly in Wokingham with Christmas parcels which their employees have personally worked to put together.
The response from the National Grid employees was overwhelmingly positive and in a matter of less than two weeks 38 Christmas parcels were collected in the National Grid office (almost 50 percent more than the originally planned 20 parcels). The National Grid employees then delivered the parcels to the Wokingham Social Services department who have kindly distributed the parcels to the elderly population around the city.
