CR Index Top 100 companies published in The Sunday Times

The Top 100 companies in Business in the Community’s Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index were published in a supplement supplied with The Sunday Times on 25 May.

We see the Index as a great reference point to identify whether we are tackling the right areas in our sustainability agenda.

David HurcombDirector for Sustainability, Carillion

Participating companies in the CR Index are evaluated in terms of how responsible business practices are integrated into their core business processes, including their environmental impact, supply chain management and the well being of their workforce and customers.

Systematic framework for assessment

The companies are assessed against a rigorous and systematic framework that not only identifies their strengths and weaknesses but allows for comparisons with their sector peers. For many companies, the journey is one of gradual improvement over a period of participation, reflection and action.

Special achievements

We would like to thank and congratulate all those companies that took part in the 2007 CR Index, but special congratulations are reserved for the following:

  • National Grid and Co-operative Financial Services who have achieved Platinum status consistently since 2002.
  • Eversheds who are this year’s most improved company.
  • BDO Stoy Hayward who are the most improved company in this year’s Top 100.
