HBOS Card Services Rise To The Challenge

28 employees from HBOS Card Services took time out of their work schedules today to give four areas at the Hollies School in Pentwyn a complete makeover.

Organised by Business in the Community’s Cares campaign – the main business-led employee volunteering programme in the UK - the one-day challenge encouraged team building between HBOS staff from its Software Testing department in Cardiff.

Having secured funding for materials and supplies through various initiatives, the HBOS team - equipped with overalls, paint brushes, rollers and pots of paint – completely transformed the sports hall, dining room, reception area and science room.

Paul Williams, Test Manager at HBOS said: “The team has worked really hard and it has been an excellent way for us to work together away from the office environment, while at the same time supporting a local community initiative.”

Kay Hughes-Jones, School Business Manager at the Hollies added: “The support we have received from HBOS and Business in the Community has been second to none.

“The work undertaken will undoubtedly brighten up the school for the pupils and we are delighted that so much has been achieved in just one day!  We hope to continue our strong links with Business in the Community and HBOS with future projects and staff and pupils thank them for their support.”

Tracy Rees, Business Development Manager of Business in the Community said: “Team challenges are a real chance to make a significant impact in a short period of time, as well as providing an excellent opportunity for participating businesses to boost team building, staff morale, motivation and personal development.”
