National Cares Day in Yorkshire & Humber
400 employee volunteers were out across Yorkshire & Humber on Friday 16th May to support environmental projects as part of Cares Day, a national initiative organised by Business in the Community that has mobilised over 4000 employee volunteers in 24 towns and cities all over the UK.
National Cares Day has Metro as its Media Partner and is supported by the Energy Saving Trust and Golley Slater.

In Yorkshire & Humber volunteers were from 24 companies and supported 25 projects in Bradford, Halifax, Grimsby, Hull, Leeds and Sheffield.
Companies got involved in a diverse range of environmental projects across the region. These included volunteers in Hull creating a community garden at the Hull Community Enterprise Centre. Volunteers in Sheffield gave Charlton Brook, a green space within the inner city, a spring clean including footpath and woodland clearance. Volunteers in Bradford worked with regular gardening volunteers at Marie Curie Hospice to develop the garden area that is looked onto by patients from their rooms.

Highlights from - Cottingley Primary School, Leeds
Volunteers from TD Waterhouse and Yorkshire Bank worked together with children at Cottingley Primary School in Leeds. The volunteers planted fruit trees and a butterfly garden that are part of the outdoor classroom for the school. In addition they created a fantastic amphitheatre circled by trees that the children will use for reading and story telling.
