North West Businesses get a Big Tick from HRH The Prince of Wales

Three North West Businesses were recognised on 2nd July 2007 at the Business in the Community National Awards for Excellence.

We are delighted that 3 out of the 15 national examples of excellence have been awarded to businesses from the North West. We have long standing relationships with these companies and we hope that other organisations in the region will be inspired by their programmes.

AstraZeneca, Speedy Hire plc and Northern Rail were all honoured as National Examples of Excellence in the categories Healthy Workplace, Responsible Marketing and Rural Action. Also highly commended was Manchester City Football Club in the Healthy Communities category.

AstraZeneca’s health and well being programme has noticeably reduced the impact of ill health within it’s employees creating a positive and dynamic working environment which has helped them attract, develop and retain top talent.

Speedy Hire created an innovative marketing campaign which raised awareness of working at height health and safety regulations, decreasing the number of accidents on site and increasing their sales by 28% against a background of stagnant growth.

Northern Rail, who work across the north of England were recognised for developing strong community partnerships resulting in increased passenger revenue through the promotion of sustainable access into rural areas.

All three received their awards in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales and Vice President Al Gore at the Royal Albert Hall last night.
