A recent multi-million pound physical upgrade at the superstore brought fresh employment opportunities and store manager Andrew Jones proved that every little helps when reaching into the community to fill new vacancies.
He explained; “Tesco takes pride in our relationships with local communities and that’s exactly where we went to find new members of staff for the Ballygomartin store. Our company is involved in the West Belfast and Greater Shankill Employer’s Forum, aiming to smooth the path to employment for those furthest removed from the labour market, in deprived sections of Belfast.”
The official Recruitment weekend was a huge success and saw some 40+ applications completed and sent to Tesco. As a result of 16 formerly unemployed persons moved into employment with the company.
Michael Ryan, Chairman of the Employers’ Forum and Vice-President and General Manager of Bombardier Aerospace, commended Tesco for their efforts. He said:- “It is so encouraging to see a major retail company helping to remove obstacles to employment for local people and increasing employment opportunities in areas of deprivation.
