Do You Need Volunteers?
Are you a charity or community organisation? Could you use a team of volunteers for a one-off / day's project?
North East Cares is part of a national campaign co-ordinated by Business in the Community, called Cares. Funded by business, its aim is to increase the quantity and impact of employee volunteering throughout the North East.
North East Cares offers:
Links between voluntary organisations that need volunteer support, and corporate organisations that want to get involved in the community.
Employee volunteers.
Support and advice throughout.
Project type:
One to two weekday projects for teams of employees (average number 10)
Environmental projects, clearing, landscaping and planting.
Painting and decorating community areas.
Or perhaps providing a Christmas party or afternoon tea to a group of elderly isolated people or children.
Things to think about:
Can the team challenge be completed within time frame?
Are specialised skills required to complete the activity?
Do you have any budget or materials to help fund or be used for the project?
Can you provide someone to act as the main contact, to liaise with volunteers, provide training, answer any telephone calls they may make etc.
Insurance:
As a volunteer-using organisation, you must be insured against any injury to the volunteer or any property damage or injury caused by the volunteer to a third party whilst working for and under the supervision of your organisation (e.g. where a volunteering opportunity is at a local community centre, the liability lies with the centre). If you are not insured for working with volunteers, then we will not accept your volunteering opportunity as part of Cares. If you are not sure, you need to check with your insurers.
