Since September 2006, the Back to Business programme has engaged with over 1,300 pupils and volunteers from businesses. Below are a selection of some of the activities and successes that the programme has produced.

Cummins and Freebrough Specialist Engineering College.

Freebrough College students at the YEB 2006 regional finals

A group of Year 11 students with predicted borderline D grades at GSCE were mentored by placement undergraduates at Cummins in Darlington.  They met every fortnight after school for revision and support, and the students' results exceeded all expectations.

Education Seeing is Believing visit to Derwentside

As part of HRH The Prince of Wales' Seeing is Believing programme, 14 business delegates from across the region were able to see first hand the needs and resources currently available to students leaving special needs schools and seeking employment.

John Lewis Newcastle and All Saints College

Adam Featherstone from All Saints College working at John Lewis 2 days a week.

Human resources staff put 10 students through the John Lewis recruitment process before offering them work experience placements. Another student was offered a tailored year-long work experience placement to help him address his poor attendance record.
