Education: What We Aim to Achieve
We believe that in order to create tomorrow's competitive and skilled workforce, business has a role to play in ensuring that young people are being encouraged to develop the knowledge and skills that they'll need to help themselves and their employer succeed in tomorrow's economy.
By working with us, businesses can make a significant contribution in supporting schools to achieve this aim, by supporting schools in three priority areas: employability, enterprise, and leadership and management.
Our education programme aims to help businesses support schools by:
- helping businesses engage with schools in a strategic and co-ordinated way and to match the needs of the business with the needs of the school.
- raising awareness of the career opportunities available with North East companies to young people in the region.
- making sure schools work with businesses to help tackle the skills shortages in the region.
- making sure that children with special educational needs are given the same opportunities.
- providing a forum where business and schools can work together to better understand each other's needs.
- helping to solve the social problems associated with low achievement in education and low employability.
- encouraging businesses to promote employee volunteering as a major resource businesses have to offer their local schools.
