    PZ Cussons scientists delivered a timetable of exciting challenges for Year 7 pupils in their first week at Salford City Academy. This included teambuilding, problem-solving and creative tasks alongside scientific demonstrations and hands-on experiments. The day was a massive success and provided a positive transition experience for the pupils and a great introduction to science as a subject and career.

  • The Co-operative Group: combating climate change - Example of Excellence 2011

    The Co-operative Group has focused on reducing its own emissions as well as the provision or withholding of finances, reducing the impact of the products and services offered. The aim is to help UK communities take action on climate change and campaigning for the strong regulation that is necessary to bring about a low carbon economy. The Co-op’s gross direct greenhouse gases have reduced by 21% since 2006, while a third of The Co-operative Bank’s customers have cited ethics or the environment as a reason for opening and maintaining an account.

  • Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Green Travel Plan - Example of Excellence 2011

    In order to meet the overarching goal of long-term sustainability, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have taken a holistic approach to fleet management; reducing direct and embedded CO2 emissions at all stages in the vehicle lifecycle, from construction to day-to-day use and final disposal. Over 2009/10 the measured cost savings for the 5 network members reached £786,020 - with a reduction in CO2 emissions of 7,900 tonnes.
