Business in the Community is working collaboratively with regeneration agencies and a number of The Prince’s Charities in Burnley to challenge and support businesses to become engaged with a range of innovative and creative projects benefiting education, enterprise and the local community.

Education

The Education team is working to raise the achievements and aspirations of young people in Burnley. One of our key initiatives is Business Class, a long term partnership programme bringing together businesses and secondary schools.

The team has also worked with local businesses including Greggs and Sainsbury’s to provide breakfast clubs for some of the most deprived primary schoolchildren in Burnley.

MOSAIC is a muslim to muslim mentoring scheme working in schools, college and community groups.

Enterprise

Burnley Enterprise Development Programme is aimed at developing entrepreneurs in Burnley and supporting local businesses through a series of ‘Masterclass’ sessions from prominent business leaders. BITC is working with Burnley Enterprise, UCLAN and Burnley Borough Council.

The Burnley Banking Forum sees Business in the Community working with the banking sector, Business Support Agencies and Burnley Borough Council, to ensure the breadth of business support available is promoted to local businesses and that the banks are able to play a full role in supporting the local economy.

Community

Business for Burnley (B4B) is a business-led community impact group which seeks to increase the scale, impact and sustainability of business involvement in tackling key social and economic issues in Burnley.

Business in the Community is also working to broker business support for existing community groups utilising the time and skills of businesses to improve community group structures and facilities.

The Proud of Burnley project sees Business in the Community helping to instil local pride and create a positive image of the town, working with Burnley Borough Council, Calico Housing and The Burnley Express. This campaign aims to help residents understand the heritage of Burnley, increase awareness of the achievements of other Burnley residents and increase people’s connection with their place.
